Howard-and-Emma-Davenport

Howard Davenport is the Senior Pastor. He has been a Pastor since 1996 and previously Pastored in Worcester and Guernsey. He became a Christian in Wigan when he was 7 years old. Howard oversees all Departments in the Church, as well as general Pastoral work. In his spare time he enjoys music and comedy.

Emma became a Christian in Guernsey when she was 7 years old. She is involved with Howard in all aspects of the Church, and works as a Teaching Assistant at a local School. Howard and Emma were married in 2002 and have three children.

Ian-Raby-and-Jean

Ian Raby is a Church Elder. He became a Christian in 1953 at Brewham. He is semi retired but was previously involved in the Funeral and Stonemason Industry. He enjoys various sports – from his armchair!

Jean supports Ian in his role as Elder, is part of the Prayer Chain and involved in hospitality and catering. She became a Christian in 1955. Ian and Jean were married in 1967 and have one adult daughter and two grandchildren. They are involved in hospitality and various practical aspects of Church life and their home is frequently used for a variety of Church events, and they lead a House Group. They are also involved with the work of Gideons International.

Mike-Thorner-and-Jenny

Mike Thorner is an elder and became a Christian in 1984. He runs a housegroup with his wife Jenny and is involved in evangelism. After some years in engineering he studied at bible college for 2 years and afterwards worked for London city mission for 10 years. He now runs a small business and enjoys trying to keep fit, reading and food.

Jenny supports Mike in his role as an elder. She became a Christian in 1984 and is part of the Women of Faith team and is interested in Missions.
Jenny is a Hairdresser but more recently enjoyed working as a Care Assistant to the elderly. Mike and Jenny have three grown up sons and two grandsons. They enjoy travelling especially to Australia to see their eldest son and his family.

Claire-McSevney

Claire McSevney joined the team in January 2009 as the Director of our Youth and Children’s work, having previously been involved in Children’s work in Schools and Social Services. In May 2016 she stepped down from her paid role but continues on the leadership as a Licensed Minister. Claire became a Christian in London when she was 18 whilst working as a Nanny in Wandsworth. The family introduced her to their Church where she did the Alpha Course. Claire says ‘Throughout life God has always been there to get me through. In times when I thought I’d never see the end, He guided me through and kept me going’.

Claire has three children who love church life. She also enjoys cooking, DIY and swimming.

Tim-Williams-and-Rebekah

Tim Williams is our Worship Pastor. Tim has a special gift of worship leading and skill in musicianship having led worship since his teenage years and is a member of Elim Sound. He is responsible for the Worship Team bringing to it his experience from training at Worship Central Academy with Tim Hughes, being a Worship Leader at HTB and Assistant Worship Director at Ealing Christian Centre. He has studied Church Leadership at Regents Theological College and is completing his Minister In Training. Tim is also responsible for our “Performance” Drama Group.

Rebekah supports Tim in his ministry. She has a passion for Young People and studied Youth Ministry at Regents Theological College. She is a trained dental nurse and works at a local Dental and Orthodontics practice. Tim and Rebekah were married in 2013 and have one son.

Julie-and-Dave-Burton

Julie Burton is a Deacon and her area of responsibility is looking after Newcomers to the church. Julie became a Christian when she was 16 at an event called ‘to Yeovil with love’. She enjoys swimming, gym, School ptfa and study.

Dave supports Julie in her role as deacon. He works at Garador and is involved in Kids Church, Youth & “Performance”. Dave became a Christian at Southville when he was a teenager. He is an avid football supporter and enjoys DIY. Dave & Julie were married in 1989 and have three daughters.

Denise-and-Alan-Manley

Denise Manley is a Deacon. Denise is now retired and serves as Church Treasurer. She and her husband, Alan, are involved in many areas within the Church and run a House Group.

Alan was previously Church Leader at Larkhill Elim Christian Centre and was an Elder at Southville for many years. He is a retired Westlands Engineer and is a keen Yeovil Town Football Club supporter. Alan and Denise became Christians in 1984 at the Larkhill Christian Centre and immediately got involved in the work there. They were married in 1970 and have three adult children and four grandchildren – which are their main interest.

Reg-Ayers-and-Janet

Reg Ayers is a Deacon, and his areas of responsibility are Modernisation and Maintenance. He became a Christian in 1966 aged 21, which caused a dramatic change in his life as persistent smoking and swearing stopped instantly – overnight. He is retired but previously worked at Westlands. He enjoys most sports – from his armchair!

Janet became a Christian at a Methodist Sunday School in North Cadbury when she was 6 years old. She is the Church Administrator and produces the Weekly News and Church Directory. Reg & Janet were married in 1972 and have one son. They also lead a House Group.

Ken-Packer-and-Shirley

Ken Packer is a Deacon with responsibility for Stewarding. He has also been involved in the Alpha and Marriage Courses and helps with Maintenance. He is retired having previously worked at Westlands as a Development Engineer. Ken became a Christian at a Church Youth Camp in Charmouth when he was 12 years old. Ken has two daughters from a previous marriage and four grandchildren. His other interests include travelling, walking – the most rewarding being the South West Coast path 630 miles from Minehead to Poole.

Shirley works part time as an administrator at the NHS Balidon Centre. She became a Christian in 1989 at home after responding to a challenge at Yeovil Community Church. She says ‘it changed my whole outlook and purpose and gave me a wonderful peace and joy’. Shirley is the administrator for Gift Aid and they both lead a House Group. She has two children from a previous marriage and four grandchildren. She also enjoys walking, swimming, music, holidays and reading and is a trained Counsellor. Ken and Shirley were married in October 1995.

John-Stonier-and-Helen

John Stonier is a deacon and is responsible for our Church Evangelism with particular involvement in door-to-door and a course called ‘Christianity Explored’. He works for the District Council within the Horticultural department and has an interest in the history of Yeovil.

Helen and John have been involved in church activities for a number of years – Helen in worship and currently Kid’s church. She works as a Learning and Progress Tutor and enjoys music, reading and theatre. Helen & John have two children.

Lisa-Chapman

Lisa Chapman is our Pastoral Assistant. She has a heart for the care of the elderly and is involved in many realms of pastoral care issues in the Church. Lisa is part of our worship team as a singer and musician.

Dave became a Christian when he was 9 years old and is a Craft Baker. He was the Church Worship leader prior to them having their family – Lisa and Dave were married in 2003 and have two children.
