Good morning everyone: Father God, thankyou for Your joy, peace and contentment that comes from living in Your presence that You made available to each of us when You paid our debt in full with the blood of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen
1 TIMOTHY 6:6-10
(Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came in the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money have wondered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.)
Jesus, regularly talked about money – we all need it to buy the everyday things we need but we do need to be in control. Who is in control? You or your money? If your money is controlling you it will lead you into temptation and ruin. It can destroy relationships – craving money or the material things it can buy can seriously steal your joy and lead you down a slippery slope of anxiety or depression. Yet godliness is true wealth and you don’t need the material things of this world to give you joy. The new car you’re about to buy is already decaying before you get it home and for many, what comes with new things is debt, and I know in this world today we sometimes need to borrow but doesn’t it make sense to keep borrowing to a minimum. Whether you are in debt or loaded, the joy you get from material things is short lived and as Christians we need to learn to be content with what we have – after all you came into this world naked and empty handed and you will leave it naked and empty handed – you can’t take anything with you. (ECCLESIASTES 5 15-16)
MATHEW 6:19-20
(Don’t store up treasures here on earth where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.)
Instead of storing your treasures here on earth, invest into your future, for God will store up your treasures in heaven according to your good deeds. Get your joy from living in Christ Jesus, by obeying God’s commandments and staying in His love – your joy will over flow and since Christ won’t ever leave you, neither will the joy, contentment and peace of mind that you can have from Christ.
PSALM 37:3-4
(Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your hearts desires.)
Keep trusting God, be dependent on Him and keep doing good, help those in need, be a giver, whether it’s your time, money or something else, every time you do good, you are investing into your eternal future and you will live safely in your everyday life. By doing good, you give our God reason to bless you. God will give you the desires of your heart, your life will be full of joy, contentment and peace and you have a confident hope of eternal life in paradise heaven where God has been storing up the blessings for you. God bless you all. Glory be to God forever and ever. Amen.
