Good morning everyone: Thank you for this new day, Lord, please teach each and every one of us to do Your will, to become more like You, living peaceful lives, following Your example, fishing for people, to share Your Good News. Amen.
LUKE 5:29-32
(Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them. But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?” Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor-sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”)
In that day, tax collectors were considered scum, and some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were angry with Jesus for accepting Levi’s invitation, they didn’t understand why Jesus would eat with such people. But Jesus saw the invitation as an opportunity to share the “Good News,” not to those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent, for they need Spiritual healing, they need a Doctor. Jesus took every opportunity to fish for people, those who know they are sinners and need to repent.
MATHEW 4:19-20
(Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” And they left their nets at once and followed him.)
Jesus called out to Simon and Peter, “Come, let me show you how to fish for people!” Like Simon and Peter, as Christians we must “fish” for people, to share the Good News, and like Simon and Peter, we should see that as priority, Simon and Peter left their nets and followed him, and then two more brothers, James and John sitting in their boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come too, They left their father to follow Jesus, travelling throughout the region of Galilee, sharing the Good News. These four, gave up their jobs as fisherman, James and John abandoned their father, because following Jesus, sharing the Good News was their number one priority, and the truth is, nothing has changed, as a Christian, you are called to fish for people, sharing the Good News at every opportunity, praying for them (MATHEW4:21-23 showing yourself as a true child of God, by the way you live your every day life, and by the way you treat others, displaying God’s love to even your enemies, (MATHEW 5:44-45) and not judging them, for we are all sinners, we are no better than any other, in fact, This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”-and I am the worst of them all. (1 TIMOTHY 1:15) If you apply this saying, you will not have reason to judge anyone, but every reason to share God’s Good News to everyone, for we are all sinners and all need the Doctor of all doctors, Jesus Christ. God bless you all. Glory to God forever and ever. Amen
